Damage & Liability Disclaimer – Gold Coast Moving Co.

1. Damage Waiver and Release

Moving services, including packing, loading, transport, and unloading, involve inherent risks. Items may be scratched, broken, dropped, lost, or otherwise damaged.

Gold Coast Moving Co. is not liable for the following:

• Mechanical or electrical failures of appliances or electronics (e.g., pianos, computers, refrigerators, televisions, washers/dryers).
• Loss or damage of cash, checks, credit cards, deeds, tickets, securities, stamp collections, or valuable papers.
• Jewelry, gems, watches, antiques, furs, firearms, ammunition, prescription medications, alcohol, or items of unusual value.
• Furniture made of particleboard or materials prone to breakage.

We strongly recommend that you personally move all items of high monetary or sentimental value.

2. Appliances, Electronics, and Installation

The condition of appliances and electronics cannot be verified prior to service. Therefore, Gold Coast Moving Co. is not responsible for electrical or mechanical malfunctions during or after transport.

• We do not provide installation, re-connection, or wall mounting of appliances or electronics.
• Services do not include removal or reinstallation of items secured to the premises.
• Any help offered in this area by movers is a courtesy only and at the customer’s own risk.

We recommend hiring licensed professionals for all appliance and electronic installations.

3. Release of Liability

By using Gold Coast Moving Co.’s services, the customer agrees to waive, release, indemnify, and hold harmless the company, its employees, agents, and contractors from any and all claims, damages, or liabilities arising from:

• Loss or damage to excluded items.
• Malfunction of appliances or electronics not directly caused by negligence.
• Customer injuries sustained while assisting movers.
• Conditions beyond the company’s reasonable control.

4. Carrier Liability Limitations

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

• Liability for loss or damage is limited to $0.60 per pound per article (released value protection under U.S. DOT regulations).
• Gold Coast Moving Co. is not liable for:
  • Acts of God, weather, natural disasters, terrorism, civil commotion, or government actions.
  • Defects or inherent conditions of items (fragile, unstable, or improperly built furniture).
  • Road delays, traffic, accidents, or mechanical breakdowns are beyond our control.

Customers may purchase additional insurance coverage through a third-party insurer if higher protection is desired.

5. Storage, Refusal, or Unclaimed Goods

If delivery cannot be made due to consignee refusal, unpaid charges, or lack of access, Gold Coast Moving Co. may store goods at the customer’s expense. After proper notice, unclaimed goods may be sold or disposed of in accordance with applicable law. Proceeds will first cover outstanding charges, with any balance returned to the customer.

6. Claims Process

• All claims for loss, damage, or delay must be filed in writing within 90 days of delivery (or expected delivery date if undelivered).
• Legal action must be initiated within 2 years and 1 day after the company provides a written denial of the claim.
